UH’s golf team was unable to sweep the team and individual titles at a tournament for the first time since early October.
The eighth-ranked Cougars tied for seventh with No. 12 Florida State with a 54-hole score of 1-under-par 851 Tuesday afternoon at the Valspar Invitational at Floridian.
Senior Curtis Reed shot 70 in the final round for his second par effort or better at the tournament and led the Cougars with a 15th-place finish.
Junior Roman Robledo — who won the individual titles at each of his last three events — placed in the final player standings with a 70 and tied for 30th at 215.
Junior Kyle Pilgrim also shot 70 Tuesday to move into 56th at 221. Other Cougars competing were senior Wesley McClain (217, t-36th) and sophomore Vincent Martino (219, t-47th).
No. 4 Georgia Tech won the team title after firing a final-round 283 and finished at 837, eight strokes ahead of No. 3 Oklahoma State.
The 15-team field featured four of the nation’s top-10 ranked teams and 11 of the top 30.
