UH has climbed to No. 10 in the nation this week by both Baseball America and Perfect Game, while ranking among the nation’s Top 20 in all five polls.

The No. 10 ranking by Baseball America is the highest for the Cougars in that poll since the 2002 season, though the 2006 team was the last team to crack the nation’s Top 10 in any poll.

Winners of seven of their last eight, the Cougars are now 22-5 on the year and 18-2 at Cougar Field – winning their sixth weekend series of the year to open conference play vs. Memphis.

Sophomore Kyle Survance was named this week’s American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday morning.

Senior reliever Tyler Ford joins Survance in this week’s honors, being named to the conference’s weekly Honor Roll.

Survance led UH to a 3-1 week, which included a win over then-No. 10 Rice and a conference series win over Memphis. He hit a team-high .467 with seven hits in 15 at-bats, accompanied by four runs scored from the leadoff spot in four games played.
