Cougars end regular season with a 19-4 record

The Cougars finished their season Tuesday with a convincing 7-0 victory against Prairie View A&M on senior day at the John E. Hoff Courts to claim their season-high fourth consecutive win.

For UH (19-4), the win notches its 19th victory of the season, which is the most wins since the Cougars claimed 20 victories during the 2006 campaign. The win also marks the team’s third straight shutout victory and its school-record 10th shutout win of the year.

It was senior Dionne Sanders who helped the Cougars claim their first victory of the afternoon. She teamed up with junior Elena Kordolaimi to secure an 8-2 doubles victory on court three. Sophomore Maria Cardenas and freshman Tina Rupert pulled off an 8-0 shutout victory.

Junior Charlotte Phillips quickly set the tone in singles play, racing her way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory against PVAMU’s Paris Cunningham to put the Cougars up 2-0.
