COMM professor seeks students for broadcast workshop

Assistant professor Randy Polk is recruiting students for COMM 3329, Media Performance.

“I do this each year to ensure that Broadcast Journalists that aspire to work in front of the camera get this class rather than those that are just looking for another 3 hours,” Polk said in an email to his co-workers.

The class works in conjunction with the producing and directing class in the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication to produce six episodes of “Video Workshop,” a 30-minute news magazine shown each fall semester on HoustonPBS 8’s digital channel.

Preference for the 14 seats available are given to upper-level undergraduates who have already taken the prerequisite writing courses.

Auditions and information sessions required to enroll in the class will take place at 2:30 p.m.  April 22 and at 2 p.m. April 23 in room 239 of the Communication Technology Center. Students who cannot attend these times must contact Polk to set up separate arrangements.
