UH’s 42nd win of the season also had the privilege of being the all-important first win in their bracket of the American Athletic Conference’s baseball tournament.
Edging Temple 3-0 on the arms of Rookie of the Year Andrew Lantrip and senior Tyler Ford, UH followed its now standard formula of overwhelm by arm.
“That’s been our way of playing all season long,” said UH head coach Todd Whitting. “We pitch lights out, score just enough runs and make a few plays behind the pitcher.”
UH run support came in form of RBIs from sophomores Kyle Survance and Justin Montemayor.
Now at 1-0 in the tournament, UH takes on UConn on Thursday at 10am.
