The UH Volleyball team painted and decorated bulletin boards and welcome signs for the children that visit the Nehemiah Center daily.
The Nehemiah Center, according to its website, is “a Christian-based organization that offers academic, emotional, cultural, social and spiritual enrichment for at-risk children and their families in Houston’s Third Ward and beyond.”
“We’ve really enjoyed working in the community each week,” said head coach Kaddie Platt. “As we continue to build and grow relationships within our community, our student-athletes are reminded of the many blessings they have every day and the impact they can have on the lives of others.”
UH Volleyball student-athletes have been committed to a weekly community service project. They also assisted in cleaning compartments used by the families throughout the school year.
The program is excited about the relationship they formed with the Nehemiah Center.
“We are looking forward to coming back before school starts to meet the kids,” Platt said.
