The Lady Cougars divided and conquered to continue their commitment of community service this summer by volunteering at three Star of Hope locations.
This was the team’s first time with their new mentors and the second time they have aided the Star of Hope.
“This was such a great experience, not only because it gave the team another opportunity to give back, but the athletes were able to do it with their mentors,” said director of student-athlete services Kassen Gunderman.
In this Christian community, positive life changes are supported through programs that focus on spiritual growth, education and recovery from substance abuse.
Along with their mentors, the ladies prepared and served nutritious meals for the homeless within the Houston community.
“The mentors got a chance to see what these student-athletes do every week, and I think they got just as much out of the experience as the athletes did,” said Gunderman.
