UH distance runner proves his worth on Team USA

UH Cross Country runner Brian Barraza refuses to stop improving as he set a new personal best while running on on Friday, July 25 for Team USA in the 5000m run.

His freshman season has come with no shortage of success — he ran a solid 14:13.33 to a 13th-place finish in the 5000m run.

“It’s a big step in Brian’s running career,” cross country head coach Steve Magness said. “Any time you get to put a USA jersey on, it elevates the importance to another level.”

He earned a spot to run at the IAAF World Junior Championships after qualifying competing in the same event during the USATF Junior Championships.
