The Houston women’s basketball team will host both their 2014-15 home opener, as well as the Hofheinz opener at 7 p.m. on Monday as they face off against the Incarnate Word Cardinals.

The Cougars are on a roll as they take on the Cardinals after two wins that displayed their strengths as a team. The women’s basketball team opened preseason play with a huge 100-37 win over Huston-Tilloston and followed up with a season-opening 46-42 win over North Texas.

The Cougar defense held the North Texas Mean Green to a mere 27.1 shooting percentage with 22 forced turnovers this past week and their offense opened the year with all participating Cougars scoring at least four points and nabbing to steals each.

The Cougars and Cardinals have had no previous meetings; Incarnate Word transitioned to Division 1 two seasons ago. Houston marks Incarnate Word’s first AAC opponent since the change.
