Shasta’s Pride: A cocktail made in the spirit of UH

uh cocktail

A sweet, tangy flavor with hints of white grape and passion fruit characterize this creamy cocktail. | Jenae Sitzes/The Cougar

In the spirit of Cougar Red Friday, we’ve concocted a new cocktail that embodies the pride of UH and delightful taste.

Surprisingly tangy, sweet and citrusy, Shasta’s Pride has a smooth finish and requires as much preparation time as a Hot Pocket.

And you won’t need to worry about slicing limes or peeling any oranges with this drink — a maraschino cherry serves as the perfect no-prep accent to this gorgeous cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of citrus vodka
  • 3 tablespoons St. Germain (elderflower liqueur)
  • 3 tablespoons grenadine
  • 2 tablespoons half and half
  • whipped cream
  • maraschino cherries, to garnish

Serve in a wine flute. Add whipped cream and cherry on top of the cocktail to balance the red with some white.

Alcoholic beverages and grenadine can be purchased at Spec’s Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods by students 21 and older. The nearest Spec’s is located at 2410 Smith St. and is open Monday through Saturday.
