The Cougars have had a long week of rest with the cancellation of their matchup with the No. 9 Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns and are getting ready to host the UConn Huskies this weekend to close out their AAC home season.
Sitting in third place in the AAC with a 4-4 conference record and a 19-23 record overall, the Cougars are looking to better their standing as the season nears a close. A five-game losing streak plagues the Cougars currently, but they hope to shake it off against a team that has only won four games on the road this season.
The weekend series looks good for the Cougars as they have the upper hand after sweeping the Huskies in their three-game series last season with huge wins of 12-2, 16-2 and 8-4. The Cougars hope to replicate high scores this season as the Huskies pitching staff has combined for an ERA of 5.81.
The Cougars open the series with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Saturday and finish off the series on Sunday at noon with Little League Day, a game to promote Little League Softball and allow Little League players to interact with the Cougars following the game.
