In the second game of their road trip, the Cougars fell to Utah State University on Sunday 2-0.
Even with the loss, senior goalkeeper Jordan Brown became the seventh Cougar all time to surpass 100 saves, as she collected three saves on the afternoon.
The Cougars gave up a goal early in the first half, when the ball took an unlucky bounce off the cross bar, and the Aggies hammered it home for a goal.
Despite falling behind early, the Cougars played a strong match. But, another goal in the 67th minute by the Aggies gave Utah State the brace and the Cougars weren’t able to come back.
After the game, head coach Chris Pfau spoke on the performance of the team.
“There were a lot of good things from this tough weekend, and we are starting to see a little light from the darkness, and that is exciting,” Pfau said.
“This is the first time since I have been here that we created and had players wanting to be on ball. We will make young mistakes, and at the end of the day we are young in regards of learning our new system and learning how to play.”
Following the loss, the Cougars will return to Houston to face the University of the Incarnate Word for their second home game of the season.
The match is set to start at 7 p.m. on Friday and will be a one-game home stand before heading out again to face the University of North Texas.
