The women’s volleyball team was able to break their three-match losing streak with a 3-1 win over the University of Connecticut Friday.
With the win, UH improves to 16-9 overall this year and 6-7 in the American Athletic Conference, equaling the number of conference victories from last season.
The team started hot, taking the first two sets of the night, dropping a close third set before rebounding in the fourth to close out the night.
The win brings Houston’s home record back to even at 5-5 this year, bringing them into a tie for sixth place in the AAC.
The Cougars offense was balanced on the evening, led by redshirt freshman Chenelle Walker, who had 14 kills, and true freshman Brookah Palmer, who had 13 kills on the evening.
Senior libero Olivia O’Dell also added 18 digs along the back line, adding to her already-impressive numbers this season.
The Cougars conclude their weekend of matches at home on Sunday, when they play host to Temple University at 1 p.m. in the Athletics and Alumni Center.
