The football team will be honored by mayor, and UH alumnus, Sylvester Turner on Feb. 1 at Legends Plaza outside of TDECU Stadium at 6 p.m.

The ceremony will celebrate the Cougars’ 13-1 season and their victory in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl at the plaza before moving into Hofheinz Pavilion for the men’s basketball game against the eighth-ranked Southern Methodist University Mustangs.

“What a glorious ride the Cougars gave Houston football fans in 2015,” Turner said in a new release. “It was exciting to watch my alma mater rack up win after win against tough teams. I was overwhelmed with pride at the championship performance of coach Tom Herman and his dedicated team.”

Joining Turner and the team at Legends Plaza will be the Spirit of Houston band and university President and Chancellor Renu Khator.

Head coach Tom Herman will also address the crowd at halftime of the SMU game, and the team will be presented with the Peach Bowl trophy in front of the home crowd.
