The Cougar men’s golf team begins their spring season Monday in the President’s Day Shootout against West Virginia University Mountaineers and the Rice University Owls.
Sophomores Alan De Bondt and Michael Perras, redshirt sophomore Papito Gonzalez, redshirt freshman Logan Davis and redshirt junior Emmett Oh will compete for the Cougars as a team.
Redshirt junior Matt Dunn, redshirt sophomore Joshua Gibbons and redshirt freshman Matt Williams will compete as individuals.
The Cougars are coming off a year that saw them finish in a tie for 26th at the NCAA Championships, as well as finishing fourth in the American Athletic Conference Championships.
Despite losing a number of seniors, the Cougars will be looking to continue the success they found in the fall season.
Gonzalez earned two top-20 finishes in the fall season, including a season-high 16th-place finish at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
The Cougars also return a number of steady contributors from the past season, including Dunn, who took an individual first place at the Collegiate Classic.
UH tees off Monday at 8 a.m. for the two-day tournament before participating in the All-American Collegiate Tournament next weekend.
