The Cougar men’s track and field program defended their American Athletic Conference Indoor title on Monday.
It’s the men’s 17th indoor title and 30th title overall in school history. The Cougars also earned four individual championships at the event.
Juniors Cameron Burrell and Brian Barraza earned top marks in their events, 60-meter dash and 3,000-meter run respectively.
Sophomore Felipe Valencia earned a conference title in shot put early in the afternoon, also setting the record at the AAC Indoor championship.
Freshman Marcus McWilliams clinched an individual title in the 60-meter hurdles, continuing to build on his strong first season on campus.
The Cougars won the team title in the final event of the day, finishing fourth in the 4×400 meter relay, just good enough to clinch the championship.
Members of the men’s track and field programs now look forward to the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala.
