The Cougar men’s basketball team wrapped up their 2015-16 regular season with a 69-56 home win over the University of Cincinnati Bearcats on Thursday night.

The win came on senior night and positions the Cougars well heading into the American Athletic Conference tournament.

The Cougars were able to jump out to a big lead in the second half after a slow start, and held onto it despite a late rally attempt by the Bearcats.

Junior guard Damyean Dotson and sophomore guard Rob Gray each poured in 13 points for the Cougars, while senior forward Devonta Pollard added 11 points. Dotson also grabbed seven rebounds for UH, while Pollard added five of his own.

With the win, the Cougars catapult into third place overall in the AAC standings, and end the year with their best record in the past five years at 22-8.

With the regular season now completed, the Cougars will turn their attention to the AAC tournament, looking to stake their claim for the title and strive for a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
