Football fans won’t have to wait much longer to see the Cougars in action again as the 2016 Houston Football Red and White game was announced for April 16.
After one of the most successful seasons in UH history, the Cougars will hit the field with a bevy of new talent looking to build toward another strong season.
In their first season under head coach Tom Herman, the Cougars managed a 13-1 record, winning the American Athletic Conference West division as well as the conference championship in its inaugural year.
UH went on to earn a bid in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, one of the New Year’s Six bowls, where it defeated Florida State University, 38-24.
The Cougars will use the spring to prepare for the upcoming season and assess their level of talent following departures of seniors and juniors and the arrival of incoming transfers and freshmen.
UH will have a tough schedule when the season rolls around again, starting off the season with a game against Big 12-foe University of Oklahoma before a tough conference schedule, including a home game against the University of Louisville and road tests against conference foes like the United States Naval Academy, the University of Memphis and the University of Cincinnati.
The Red and White game will kick off at 2 p.m. on April 16 inside TDECU Stadium.
