Reawaken the Force, make helpful sandwiches this weekend

“The Force Awakens” Movie Night and Cosplay

7 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Discovery Green

Show your allegiance to the Force, the Dark Side or just the “Star Wars” universe in general at this free screening of J.J. Abrams’ spectacular entry to the saga. The film has made $2 billion worldwide — almost half of that is in the U.S. alone.

Sandwiches for All

4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, McMurty PDR at Rice University

Volunteers are wanted for this fun and fast-paced charity event. Team up and make 400 PB&J sandwiches and sack lunches for the homeless in two hours. At 7 p.m., everyone will get a chance to deliver the food to Food Not Bombs.

Really Really Free Market

1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Menil Park

A “no money, no barter, no sale” event. Give to the community or find what you need here this weekend. Click the event title to read the basics — they’re pretty important.
