Political Update: Rigged theme, Clinton emails, déjà vu

The home stretch of the election is here: The last debate is out of the way and Election Day is just two weeks away.

Congratulations, you have almost made it. Your prize will be the pride you are filled with on Nov. 8 when you cast your vote and the fact that the election season is over.

With the end nearing, both candidates are looking past the election to life after the campaign trail. Plans include immigration reform, lawsuits and probably the start of “Trump TV” if he fails to make the White House.

Rigged theme continues

Donald Trump really doesn’t back away from anything he has committed to. This is no different with his rigged election claim that he and his campaign have come up with to end his campaign with a bang.

When asked during the debate, Trump was non-committal to his acceptance of the election results. Now it seems he will only accept the results if he wins, furthering the notion that he is trolling everyone, especially his supporters, this election.

First 100 days

Trump has given his final plea to voters by laying out his plan for the first 100 days in office if he is voted president.

Trump made a stump speech at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and urge voters to follow Abraham Lincoln’s approach to “heal divisions” after this election. He made his closing argument to voters, but again mostly discussing the rigged election and how good he will be for everyone.

That’s really it.

Lawsuit for victims

Trump is reeling back and forth as the election concludes. He went from bringing a few of Bill Clinton’s accusers to a press conference because they deserved to be heard to saying he would sue anyone that has accused him of improper sexual advances in the last few days.

With more accusers coming forward and witnesses that have corroborated their stories, Trump is looking pretty hypocritical as he asked the public not to believe his accusers. Trump also referred to the alleged victims’ looks as a reason why he would never try to attack them.

WikiLeaks continue attack

Julian Assange’s nonprofit has played a major role this election since they leaked emails from the Democratic National Committee.

Since the fallout of the released emails, WikiLeaks has continued to show that it wants to influence this election away from Clinton by slowly releasing emails revealing a lack of confidence from some of her closest allies.

Some of these emails have revealed, among other damming subjects, is the fact that a town-hall debate question was revealed to Clinton. It is mind boggling that someone with so much political clout and know-how would feel the need to cheat.

These emails don’t prove that Clinton is unqualified to be president; they show a corrupt system that must be changed.

Looking forward

This may be an Al Gore-level mistake, but Clinton is looking past Trump and toward the presidency as she winds down her campaign in preparation for Election Day. Although a bit soon, Clinton is obviously not too worried about the election as many polls predict that she will win by a landslide.

This isn’t just “liberal” polls. Many are jumping ship as they realize there is no winning with Trump and have shifted their focus to Congress. Democrats hope to not only take the presidency, but also control of Congress.

They have a chance because of the turmoil and the friction within the Republican Party that Trump has created.

Just remember, early voting is happening and you can easily beat the long lines of Nov. 8 by taking advantage of this system.

Don’t let yourself get election fatigue now. We are in the home stretch, and once you vote you can finally stop stressing over this. In just a couple short weeks, we will know who the next President of the United States will be.
