Events to attend this Thanksgiving Break

67th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade

9 to 10 a.m., Thursday, Houston City Hall 

The annual event from H-E-B promises colors, music and energy when all sorts of floats traverse the city streets. This year’s parade marshals will be Olympians Simone Biles and Simone Manuel. Read here for parking information.

Zoo Lights

6 p.m. until close, now to Jan. 15, 2017, Houston Zoo

Presented by TXU Energy, this event guarantees that every night is a magical one — from Thanksgiving all the way to the new year. Make sure to check ticket prices and opening hours as there are slight differences on “Value Nights” and “Prime Nights.”

Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting

4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Uptown Houston

The 31st annual event will brighten Thanksgiving with a showcase of twinkling lights, glowing Christmas trees and a magnificent fireworks show. There will also be musical performances from Houston Children’s Chorus, Ballet Folklorico Azteca and many more.

The Suffers

7 p.m., Saturday, House of Blues

The festive atmosphere extends to the weekend with a jovial performance from Houston’s outstanding soul band. Remember to get tickets. All ages can attend. Still have doubts? Check out their song “Make Some Room” right here.

Mariachi Market

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, 2800 Navigation Blvd.

A special event hosted by East End Street Market welcomes attendees with things to buy, edibles to indulge and mariachi music to dance to.
