FIVE MINUTES: Junior dreams of Toyota Prius

Thao Pham: Have you seen any movies lately?

Angela Ho: Sorry, I’m a little lame. I don’t watch TV; I study.

Pham: What’s the last movie that you saw?

Ho: I cannot even remember. I haven’t seen a movie in so long.

Pham: Do you own a car?

Ho: No.

Pham: So you stay on campus?

Ho: Yes, 24 hours a day, five days a week.

Pham: Why do you choose to stay on campus?

Ho: Because I don’t have a car and commuting would be very, very difficult.

Pham: So why don’t you have a car?

Ho: Because I can’t afford one and my parents never gave (me) one.

Pham: Would you rather be a commuter or living on campus?

Ho: I would rather live on campus because it would be more convenient than driving through an hour and a half of traffic.

Pham: Where do you live?

Ho: Cypress, and if I drive by myself, it takes an hour and a half if I drive in the morning.

Pham: You can car pool with a friend.

Ho: It’s way too complicated because people have jobs, they study at all sorts of hours, they have different class schedules, and they like to do their own thing.

Pham: How do you get home on the weekends, then?

Ho: I either hitch a ride with one of my friends or my dad comes and gets me.

Pham: If you had a car, what kind of car would you like?

Ho: A Toyota Prius. It’s a hybrid.

Pham: Are you environmentally conscious?

Ho: I would like to think so.
