Rudley honored by alma mater

Former UH interim president and University of Toledo alumnus John Rudley was awarded the Career Achievement Award from his alma mater.

In spring 2007 Rudley assumed the interim president position upon the departure of former President Jay Gogue, who left UH to serve as president of his alma mater at Auburn University.

Presented by a panel from the College of Business Administration Alumni Association, the award gives special recognition to alumni who have made remarkable achievements in their career.

While at UH Rudley was responsible for numerous tasks, including financial planning, administrative policy development, treasurer operations and facilities planning. He has held multiple positions in higher education, including vice president for business and finance at the Tennessee Board of Regents, vice chancellor and vice president of administration and finance at UH and finally president of TSU.

Upon his departure from UH in spring 2008, Rudley assumed the role of TSU president. A beacon of change and excitement, he has served the needs and desires of the institution.

"He had the benefit of starting immediately at TSU, and he has made change happen." said Wendy Adair, vice president of University Advancement.

Rudley received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Toledo, a master’s in administration and supervision and finally his doctoral degree in administration from Tennessee State University.

On Oct. 3 the University of Toledo will honor the work of Rudley at its annual Gala Dinner. Selection for the award is based on a committee of affiliated members within the college. Thomas Gutteridge, dean of the College of Business Administration at University of Toledo, was also in consultation with the organization’s members concerning their nominee.
