Construction to smooth Entrance 14

Drivers who enter campus through the intersection of Cullen Boulevard and Entrance 14 will encounter a minor detour beginning Thursday.

All incoming traffic at Entrance 14 will be diverted to the north side of the street adjacent to the Science and Engineering Research and Classroom Complex, and then rerouted to its normal lane. Drivers can expect the requisite signage, personnel and traffic equipment to redirect their route.

The construction slated for this week is part of a two-week construction project to tend to much-needed road repairs.

"We’re diverting the traffic so we can repair the huge potholes at the end of the street," Senior Project Manager for Facilities and Construction Darrell Bunch said. "I would imagine it’s been a while since the road has been repaired."

After the concrete is set for the inbound repairs workers will break concrete on the outbound lane of Entrance 14.

The complete construction of Entrance 14 is scheduled to be finished before Aug. 25, the first day of fall classes. Barring any unexpected changes resulting from weather conditions or other circumstances, the closure of the inbound lane will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday and last until Wednesday.
