From the Life ‘ Arts editor: Opportunities for fun abound

Hello friends, welcome to Life ‘ Arts. This semester you can expect the best of life and art around campus and throughout the Houston area. The art scene in Houston is amazing; whether you enjoy fiction or art cars, it’s all here, so pick up a copy of The Daily Cougar every day to stay up to date.

Whether you need coffee or a beer, we’ve got you covered. Look for more reviews of nightclubs, bars and coffeehouses. Need a bite to eat? Restaurant reviews will let you know which places are worth checking out.

Though it’s fun to go out on the town, there’s still plenty to do on campus. Moores School of Music has regular concerts that are definitely worth seeing (see story, Page 14). If you enjoy literature, poetry and prose readings are held twice during the semester at The Honors College Commons located in the M.D. Anderson Library (see story, Page 4).

The Blaffer Gallery hosts fascinating exhibitions, including its latest offering: photographs taken by and of Andy Warhol (See story, Page 8). It’s well worth a look.

There are also many exciting art museums to visit, such as the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Contemporary Arts Museum, the Menil Collection and many more.

If you have an undying passion for film, look for regular reviews. Or, if you’re not sure which album to download next or which concert to attend, Life ‘ Arts is here for you. Perhaps you would rather sit on the couch after a long day of classes – if that’s the case, we’ll let you know which television series are must-sees.

If you would rather see a play at The Alley Theatre, Hobby Center or the School of Theatre and Dance, we’ll have reviews.

Searching for the latest gadgets? Maybe a new laptop? Look no further.

Are you a badge-carrying member of the fashion police? If so, we need you to help keep UH in style. There’s no room for fashion disasters.

If you love Life ‘ Arts, you should become a writer. Put your creativity to work and become part of the publication that relays valuable information to UH students, faculty and alumni.

This is your paper, too, so if you would like to see something covered, please let me know. If you have fiction or poetry, send it to me because your art should be admired.

Have a great semester!
