Spectacular day for brides to be

Houston area brides gathered for "An Afternoon of Bridal Luxury" presented by Houston Brides magazine on Sunday.

The event took place at the contemporary yet elegant Gravitas Restaurant on Taft Street and Bering ‘ James Gallery, located next to Gravitas.

Brides and their guests had the opportunity to speak with numerous wedding consultants, photographers, musicians and vendors. Among those were Bates Photography and Messina Hoff Winery, which provided wine for the event.

Besides wine and delicious hors d’oeuvres there were also samples of a bride’s cake, which was a white cake with amaretto and raspberry flavors, topped with a very sweet and shimmering white icing.

Of course no bridal event is complete without fabulous high-dollar designer wedding gowns by Eric Wang.

There was a drawing for prizes such as a dream wedding from The Glass Slipper Show, which aired earlier this year on ABC, and a three-night honeymoon package with accommodations in a luxury suite courtesy of the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico or Costa Rica. There was even a drawing to win a BMW for a day. Luxury tote bags were provided by Saks Fifth Avenue, stuffed full of vendor information, free key chains, makeup samples, a bottle of shampoo and chocolate – no goody bag for a woman is complete without it.

"An Afternoon of Bridal Luxury" was very helpful, especially for those just beginning their wedding planning. Houston Brides did a great job organizing the event and making sure brides felt welcome and found all the information they needed for their special day all in one place.

Coming events by Houston Brides are the Platinum Collection Trunk Show, Thursday through Monday and Wedding Planning 101 on Sept. 16. For more information visit www.houstonluxurybrides.com.
