Graphics event lauds alumni, student work

The University of Houston has become a source for up-and-coming talent in the fields of art and design. Today, those students, past and present, will be recognized for what they have accomplished.

The UH Graphic Alumni Partnership will be presenting "The Main Event" at the River Oaks Theatre from 6 – 9 P.M.. Alumni, students and faculty are all invited to celebrate the growth of the Graphics Communication Program.

The celebratory event will host an inspiring lecture from award-winning graphic designer,17-year veteran of entertainment and marketing design and UH alumnus Brian Diecks. Brian graduated from UH in 1991 with a Bachelor’s degree in graphic communications and has allowed that degree to take him far. His design work has been featured on many television networks including ESPN, TNT, The Food Network, Comedy Central, Independent Film Channel and Showtime.

Not only will "The Main Event" host the work of accomplished past alumni from the University of Houston, but will also feature current students of the graphic communication program.

The University of Houston School of Art’s graphic communication program offers students a preparation guide to the world of art and design. From focusing on graphic design methodology to research and theory, students can achieve both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in fine arts. The degrees and education will pave the way to a wide variety of careers.

The event is free to all UH students, alumni, faculty and all UH Graphics Alumni Partnership members, and is $10 for those not affiliated with the university. All proceeds from tonight’s events will contribute to UH graphics communication scholarships.
