Jet Black’ revives country

Texas has produced some of the most talented country acts this year, and the Eli Young Band is no exception.

With its new album, Jet Black and Jealous, the band has become a bigger name on the radio waves as well as in country music. From performing in the Cypress area, which a member of the band calls home, to San Marcos and Austin – the group is playing non-stop within the Lone Star State.

Members Mark Eli, James Young, Jon Jones and Chris Thompson have been together since 1999. This album is personal to the guys, and reflects different parts of their lives on and off the road. The first single, "When it Rains," lets people know that you can’t be afraid to be sad and show emotion.

The latest single to come from the Eli Young Band is "Always the Love Songs." This song is all about remembering the songs that you grew up with when you were with that first real love. What gives the song a nice local feel is the fact that the guys talk about driving off of Highway 249 to a quiet place just so they can be themselves. The Eli Young Band has been able to put out powerful country ballads that can touch a person and speak to them at that time in their life. A song that does this on the album is "Enough is Enough."

Relationships are about work and love, but sometimes love is not enough. Sometimes that other person has to be strong on their own so they can find love again. This song seems to have been a song about someone falling for a member of a band, but in the end it became the break-up song for the album.

Other songs on the album, such as "Radiowaves," "Guinevere" and "How Should I Know," are all songs to which people can relate.

If you’re looking for an album that speaks to you in song, then Jet Black and Jealous is one you can listen to all night long.
