Calendar: Sept. 6 to 8

TODAY:

Religion: The Muslim Student Association is hosting a weekly Friday prayer from 1 to 2 p.m. in the A.D. Bruce Religion Center.

Arts: Free food, drinks, photos and music by Coog Radio will be provided at the opening reception of the latest exhibition, “Feast: Radical Hospitality in Contemporary Art,” from 6 to 9 p.m. at Blaffer Art Museum.

Off-campus: Dominic Walsh Dance Theater presents “An Evening in Italy” to celebrate the year of Italian culture in the United States. Dancers from Sarasota Ballet will perform in “I Napoletani” and “Bello”  at 8 p.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Lawn seating is free; covered seating is ticketed.

Events: The Division of Student Affairs prepared a campus-wide scavenger hunt for Weeks of Welcome. The hunt ends at 11:30 p.m. Find more information on how to play at uh.edu/wow/interactive.

SATURDAY:

Off-campus: The 2013 Houston Brazilian Festival will have live music, performances, food and more fun from 2 to 10 p.m. at Jones Plaza. Ticket information can be found here.

Off-campus: Explore intriguing architecture by Yoshio Taniguchi, including his first free-standing structure. Asia Society Texas Center will provide tours from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Asia Society Texas Center.

Off-campus: Find locally-grown fruit, vegetables and homemade products from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clear Lake Shores Farmers Market.

SUNDAY:

Music: Composer and pianist Jake Heggie presents the Texas debut of “Another Sunrise” at 2:30 p.m. at the Dudley Recital Hall. Tickets are $12 for students and $7 for seniors.
