Annie Truong: So what we were you doing before I ran into you?
Daniel Barrios: Kicking ass and chewing bubble gum!
Truong: Really?
Barrios: No.
Truong: Did you go to Austin for South by Southwest?
Barrios: Yeah.
Truong: What bands did you go see?
Barrios: I just went around to go watch different venues. I wasn’t just sticking to one place. I did watch all of the bands that played for Stone’s Throw Record Artists. I was trying to get a record deal with them. They usually work with a lot of independent labels.
Truong: What did you do on Tuesday then?
Barrios: I walked around and drank.
Truong: Did you get drunk?
Barrios: Yes, of course!’
Truong: (laughing) Nice. Did you kiss anyone over there?
Barrios: I wished.
Truong: So what do you do for fun?
Barrios: I produce hip-hop music. I am currently working with a MC in Seattle, Washington. His name is Psynitific. He also got me into anime. I recommend everyone watching Afro Samurai Resurrection.‘
Truong: How long have you been producing hip-hop music?
Barrios: Almost a year and a half now. I love it. It’s my passion. I am fully submerged in it. I want to change people’s perception of hip-hop music. It isn’t just what you see on MTV.
